Welcome to the TVSouth website! A lot has happened since our last update!
What we're doingTVSouth is in development and pre-production for several productions including three feature films and two television pilots. We plan to produce all of these titles in the Durham, North Carolina area. TVSouth is a North Carolina, USA, limited liability company (LLC).
Who we areTVSouth was originally formed to develop a pilot for a television series focusing on a group of "outsiders" who move to Durham, North Carolina, and their interactions with the "locals." As the project gained momentum, and the market for direct to home and DVD movie titles began changing the entertainment market, we were able to attract the interest of some top-notch writers and Hollywood producers. Since that time we have been pursuing theater-release feature films, direct to DVD titles, and continuing our work in television programming. All our productions are based on character-driven elements and Southern-style storytelling, with ensemble casts of characters. Principal managers of TVSouth are Mr. Sandy Freeman and Mr. Rob Shoaf, a team of professionals with over 50 years combined experience in broadcast and non-broadcast visual communications for educational, corporate, and entertainment applications. Among our current projects is a feature film penned by Academy Award winner Horton Foote (To Kill a Mockingbird, Tender Mercies, The Trip to Bountiful) which is tentatively titled "Main Street", currently undergoing final rewrite, and is slated for production in mid 2009. The concept for "Durham Grill", drawn initially from a simple idea about South v. North, was written by acclaimed North Carolina novelist Clyde Edgerton (Raney, Walking Across Egypt, In Memory of Junior, Where Trouble Sleeps) and seasoned Hollywood screenwriter John Schulian (JAG, Miami Vice; Xena, Warrior Princess). Durham Grill is slated for preliminary casting in mid 2009 with shooting to occur in the fall of 2009 and spring of 2010. Executive Producer Thom Mount, whose credits include Animal House, The Deer Hunter, Bull Durham, Night Falls on Manhattan, and Roman Polanski's Death and the Maiden, is working in concert with TVSouth on development and production of the "big screen" titles. Former head of Universal Pictures, the Producers Guild of America, and founder of the Los Angeles Film School, he is currently head of Reliant Pictures as well as principal of The Mount Company.
